cuddle of the campanello

Mike has returned from a European excursion.

Turkish coffee - medium sugar
*Istanbul*

 Soffit at the Topkapi Palace
*Istanbul*

Textural stonework by Carlo Scarpa for Olivetti
*Venice*

Which is all very lovely, but the doorbells | campanile of Venice are something else...

Venetian Campanello

So, here's a validation of my visceral connections to residential Venice through iPhone photos.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram... now it is real.

Venetian Campanello

Venetian Campanello

Not a Venetian Campanello - a Venetian Tartufo.
Pure decadent chocolate deliciousness.

In a world mediated by touch screens, imagery and keyboards,
it just seemed really fabulous to come across something truly tactile.

Then again, there is always design, tactility and craft that misses the mark.

It's made me think even more about where we touch architecture and how architecture can touch us.

Not just in terms of a striking image but really reaching out and giving us a cuddle, bringing people together.

Henceforth Mike

Site Measure Revelations - The Walnut Banquet

Glutony takes many forms.

As the weather got colder... a rodent seeks warmth, shelter and security.

Rodent finds warmth through fire.
Rodent finds shelter within wall cavity.
Rodent finds security 2 storeys up within wall cavity.

Times are glorious and the wee bugger has a banquet!

Mike's pinstripe isn't quite cutting the mustard in such heady competition however he is sporting a cravat...
